Innovative since 1946

Oskar KertscherIt all began in 1946 when Oskar Kertscher obtained a sought-after licence from the British authorities to provide translation services and set up the Thalia offices. In 1955 he joined forces with Helmut Kertscher's Fix offices that offered a purely clerical service.
MönckebergstraßeAnd this is how Oskar Kertscher's Fix firm came into being in 1957. In the Sixties it became generally known as Fix Translation Service. At that time employees only had old typewriters and dictionaries to work with. Fax and e-mail were still unheard of, urgent assignments were delivered by messenger and important subject matter reviewed by sending it through the post.
MitarbeiterinnenIn 1960 the company moved to new business premises in the rebuilt Mönckebergstrasse. By the beginning of the seventies, 35-40 co-workers were already translating the most diverse range of subject matter into over 40 languages. The entire spectrum of assignments ranged from business letters and contracts to advertising brochures and medical directions to emotive love letters.
OK und MitarbeiterThe Seventies and Eighties were the decades of market internationalisation and the coalescence of Europe. Fix grew into the leading Northern German provider of international translation services in the fields of economy, science, culture and technology. Clients such as Esso, Chanel, Unilever, Tchibo or the Hamburg Sparkasse placed and still place their confidence in the company's professional competence, discretion and contemporary, media-oriented provision of language services.
TechnologienCustomer demand increased with the booming economy. From the sixties onwards the company offered printed matter and advertising designs in addition to translations. Fix established itself as a highly respected, pan-regional media company.
schildTo this day, the innovative force and growth of the company are still founded on the commitment and flexibility of its employees.
Bettina KertscherSince the Nineties, globalisation and networked communication technology have also changed the company’s working practices. Customers' assignments are actualised in accordance with the unique characteristics of different cultures. Acknowledging that "Chinese" is a multitude of dialects and Slavic a broad palette of languages, for example. Fix experts believe that "to translate" means "to make text clear and comprehensible" - professionally and personally.

KernteamThe range of services offered by Fix has been continually built upon right through to the present day. Following the expansion of languages available and further updating in the media sector, the company also began to advise its clients on how to conduct their international relations. These changes were aptly expressed in 2005: the Fix firm became Fix International Services and started to display itself in a completely new light.
